A meeting was held with the Minister of Immigration Hon Iain Lees-Galloway, Minister of Ethnic Affairs Hon Jenny Salesa, and Priyanca Radhakrishnan MP on 26 November 2019. Along with PANZ, community leaders from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka also participated in this meeting.
PANZ tabled concerns on the new immigration policies and made suggestions to both Ministers. PANZ President Mr. Naveed Hamid elucidate apprehensions on statements made by a Cabinet Minister and expressed the deep sentiments of the community.
Mr. Haseeb Ashraf Chaudhary underlined the operational and policy issues in the short-term category visas for partners.
PANZ Principal Advisor Mr. Farrukh Gul Qaisrani made submissions on the introduction of cultural reports in partnership and parents category visas as well as made submissions on the legal framework of the exercise of discretionary powers by INZ officers.
PANZ made part of the five members’ working committee, which will provide further feedback, legal, and policy submissions to the Ministers.
