PANZ regional representatives Mr. Syed Khurram Iqbal Naqvi attended the meeting with newly elected Mayor of Napier, Ms. Kirsten Wise, in the Mayor’s office. PAKISTANI flag was officially handed over to the Mayor for the representation of the PAKISTANI community in regional events. Hawke’s Bay regional Muslim community board chairperson of Islamic Mosque, Mr. Muhammad Naeem, also attended the flag handover ceremony.
Among other discussions, the participation of the PAKISTANI community in regional events, along with the council’s support was the focal point. The concept of joint event and participation is also under planning, which includes inviting Napier and Hastings Mayors along with PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSIONER to spend time with the PAKISTANI community.
PANZ welcomes community-building measures taken at the regional level. It will ensure that the PAKISTANI community will have representation in ethnic events, a voice in the Government sector and building stronger PAKISTANI community across New Zealand.
